Mitchell Dwayne Minyard, 61, born Sept. 20, 1957, of Viewmont, passed away peacefully to be with the Lord Monday, Feb. 11, 2019. Dwayne fought a courageous battle against cancer that had no mercy and something no one should ever have to suffer through. He loved going to the mountains and all its beauty. Dwayne never married or had any children. He lived at home with his mother, Kathryn Minyard. He was preceded in death by his father, William "Bill" Minyard. In addition to his mother, survivors include three sisters and one brother, Belinda and Ronnie Sigmon of Bethlehem, Janet and Woody Ward of Newton, Darlene and Gene Clancy of Corpus Cristi, Texas, and Glen and Kim Minyard of Hickory. Dwayne was very much loved and adored by 11 nieces and nephews; 26 great-nieces and -nephews, and three great-great nieces and -nephews. Dwayne had a big heart with enough love and concern for everyone. His favorite saying was "Are you going to come see me on Sunday?" Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., today (Tuesday, Feb. 12), in the chapel of Bass-Smith Funeral Home with the Rev. Blair Bridle officiating. Burial will follow at Friendship United Methodist Church in Connelly Springs. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m., an hour prior to services.
